Connection Song: Songs

Pieces of a Puzzle

(Steve Mason)

After interviewing Brad and Colleen it became obvious that they both get much of their energy and love for one another through how their differences piece together so well. (Yes, much like pieces of a puzzle.) It was a thrill to write Pieces of a Puzzle for them and even more of a thrill to perform it at their wedding between a processional and recessional of songs by John Denver and Dave Matthews. Enjoy!

Lyrics to "Pieces of a puzzle" © 2007 by Steve Mason

At first glance they didn’t seem much of a “fit”
Neither… seemed like “the one” they’d admit

From the t-shirt he wore to the turned around hat
Her mom and her daddy wouldn’t put up with that
First glance, they didn’t seem much of a “fit”

In a few years, they found each other again
Pulled together by fate and for sure by friends

One pillow, one blanket at Pat and Katie’s house
Proximity works when there’s only one couch
And maybe just maybe this “fit thing”
would work itself out… Maybe like

Chorus
Pieces of a puzzle
Brad and Colleen fitting perfectly
With their edges and curves
Straight lines and swerves
It’s so plain to see
Just like Pieces of a Puzzle… (so perfectly)

Perfect… Lopez out under the stars
Fireworks … mirrored the love in their hearts

The world disappeared as he hugged and she cried
Finding no need or desire to hide
Oh the awe that they felt from the love they found inside
It was like…

(CHORUS)

Oh he fits her so well
Smoothing out storms and swells
Calming her nerves making everything right
Makes the girl happy becoming his wife
Like Pieces of a puzzle

And oh she fits him well too
Her outlook makes every day seem brand new
Bringing toys keeping everything light
Makes that boy happy to make her his wife
And they’re like…

(CHORUS)
